The Leprosy Mission launches Greater Heights fundraising campaign

GOOD launches a new fundraising campaign for The Leprosy Mission. The campaign is to help build a new state of the art research centre in Anandaban, Nepal. Pioneering work and scientific breakthroughs from the centre will help end leprosy and lift people affected by the disease up to the ‘great heights’ they deserve.

The Greater Heights appeal launches on World Leprosy Day 2022, Sunday 30 January. Currently, the research centre is too small, not fit for purpose and has been severely damaged by earthquakes. In its current state, it will not pass the upcoming government inspection. The Leprosy Mission hopes to rebuild a new, state of the art research centre. Its development forms part of their work to help build a better world without leprosy.

The campaign features the voices of leprosy patients and the team at Anandaban. It aims to bring supporters closer to the individuals they’re supporting and highlights the uncomfortable truth of real experiences of leprosy, whilst also celebrating how patients benefit from treatment.

GOOD worked with The Leprosy Mission to conceive the concept and strategy, including developing a social campaign and script for the campaign film. A toolkit with comprehensive guidelines was also created to help ensure campaign consistency across the multi-channel appeal.

Bryn Attewell, Executive Creative Director of GOOD says “We are delighted to be launching such an important fundraising campaign for The Leprosy Mission. Through the compelling, human and authentic stories of the people the charity supports, we hope to continue to create long-lasting, positive change.”

Louise Timmins, Head of Fundraising and Communications at The Leprosy Mission says “When GOOD pitched the Greater Heights concept it really resonated with the whole of the project team. Greater Heights conjures up the beautiful Nepalese mountaintop landscape on which our leprosy hospital sits.  But more importantly, it echoes the purpose of this campaign; to seek an end of this awful disease and enable people affected by leprosy to reach greater heights and achieve their potential.

“We are delighted to have Paralympian and Dancing on Ice star Stef Reid as the face of Greater Heights. Having lost her lower leg in a tragic accident as a teenager, Stef truly has a heart for those striving for Greater Heights. Stef has spent time at Anandaban Hospital and is a powerful advocate for people affected by leprosy and disability. We are incredibly excited to see the outcome of this campaign which will pave the way to ending leprosy once and for all.”
